About Twittori

First Twittori is a service that helps you attaching your Twitter messages to a place on earth. All you have to do is to sign in with your Twitter Account (Twittori will never see you passwords since we are using the 'Twitter OAuth Technology') and write a message using the textfield in the bubble. The connection between your message and the place will be made by the use of a short unique URL which contains all location information.

Second feature is that you can follow places like you follow people on Twitter. After you decided to follow a place each new message written at this place will be shown in the section 'Following'. This way you can keep informed about what is happening at your favorite places. You can also subscribe to the RSS Feed to keep updated.

Twitter

This service extends Twitter messages with geo tagging features. Use this service to write messages with attached geotag information. You don't need another account, just log in with your Twitter login data. This is secure since Twittori will never get to know your password because of the use of OAuth technology.

Places

For Twittori the world has been segmented into places of equal sizes regarding latitude and longitude degree units. Though the real length of degress variates depending on how close you are at the poles. Currently that places therefore are about 500 square meters big.

Geolocation

If you wonder why the 'Show your current location' function does not locate you correctly enough you will find the information on geolocation in Firefox 3.5 helpful. For now other browsers do not support this feature out of the box, therefore you will need to install the Google Gears plugin for your browser and then allow the Twittori page to allow access to this functionality.
